Short answer: yes. Facebook is a great place to be seen, but it isn’t a place you own. A website is your home base, and your social media is how people find their way to it.

We hear it all the time from small business owners: “My customers find me on Facebook, so why would I need a website?” It’s a fair question. Here’s what a website does that a Facebook page can’t.

1. You own it

Facebook can change its rules, its layout or who sees your posts at any time. Pages get locked, hacked or buried by the algorithm. Your website stays exactly where you put it, and you decide what’s on it.

2. People search on Google first

When someone needs a bakery, a groomer or a contractor, most of them open Google, not Facebook. A website, together with a Google Business Profile, helps you show up when people search for what you offer in your area.

3. It makes you look established

A clean website with your own domain (yourbusiness.com) tells people you’re real, professional and here to stay. Many customers check for a website before they call, book or buy.

4. It answers questions while you sleep

Your hours, prices, services, location and how to book can all live in one easy place. That means fewer repeat messages and more customers who are ready to go when they reach out.

5. It can take bookings and sales for you

A website can hold a booking calendar, a contact form or a small shop. Facebook can point people there, but your website is where the business actually happens.

Keep your Facebook page

This isn’t one or the other. Use Facebook to share, connect and show what you do. Then send people to your website to learn more, book or buy. The two work best together.
